Booking in advance is recommended, especially for popular routes like Kampala–Gulu or Kampala–Mbarara where seats fill quickly on weekends and public holidays. SafariShare lets you check schedules days ahead, compare departure times across multiple operators, and reserve your seat before you travel. For operators with online booking enabled, you can pay and receive a confirmation immediately. For operators not yet on online booking, SafariShare still shows their schedule and contact details so you can call ahead to confirm availability. Walk-in travel is possible on less busy routes and off-peak days, but booking at least a day in advance gives you the best choice of operator, seat, and departure time.
SafariShare displays the most recent fares submitted directly by operators or confirmed by travelers on each route. Prices on intercity bus routes in Uganda are generally stable, but they can vary slightly by operator, day of the week, or season — expect small increases around school holidays and peak travel periods like Christmas. We refresh fares regularly and flag routes where pricing may be outdated. The fares shown are one-way, per-seat prices for a standard adult ticket unless otherwise noted. If you notice a significant discrepancy between what is displayed and what an operator charges at the park, you can report it through the platform so we can update the listing promptly.
Yes. SafariShare shows pickup points and departure parks for operators that have provided this information. Each route listing includes terminal details with the stop name and, where available, a link to Google Maps so you can get directions before travel day. Kampala departures, for example, typically leave from operator-specific parks in Kisenyi, Nakawa, or Old Taxi Park depending on the company. We are actively working to add exact GPS coordinates and park-level detail for every operator on the platform. If a departure location is missing for a route you are planning to travel, contact the operator directly using the details shown on their SafariShare profile page.
SafariShare started as a carpooling platform and carpool functionality is being rebuilt as a core part of the product. As a car owner, you will be able to create a driver profile, list your regular routes, set a price per seat, and publish available seats for passengers heading in the same direction. This reduces the cost of fuel for your trip while helping travelers who need flexible, door-to-door options that scheduled buses do not always provide. The carpool feature is currently in development. If you are interested in being an early driver on the platform, you can sign up with your details and we will notify you when the feature launches in your area.
Bus operators and transport companies can join SafariShare by visiting the Join SafariShare page and completing the onboarding form. You will need to provide your company name, contact information, operating routes, vehicle details, and a fare schedule. Once submitted, our supply team reviews the application and verifies the operator before the profile goes live — typically within a few business days. After approval, operators can manage their routes, update schedules and fares, and start accepting online bookings through the SafariShare dashboard. There is no upfront fee to list on SafariShare. For questions about operator accounts or the onboarding process, email support@safarishare.com.
SafariShare supports several ways to find your journey. You can search by entering an origin and destination city, which returns all operators serving that corridor with their schedules and fares. You can also browse specific intercity routes by name, or filter results by operator if you already have a preference. The search works with district names, town names, and common local names for destinations across Uganda. If you are unsure of the exact destination name, the autocomplete field suggests matching locations as you type. We are continuing to expand route coverage and improve search precision, particularly for routes that pass through intermediate stops rather than just direct point-to-point services.
SafariShare only lists operators that have gone through a verification process — we confirm operating permits, route details, and contact information before a company appears on the platform. Operator profile pages show the company name, description, fleet information, and departure parks so you can assess them before booking. We are actively building a review and rating system that will show verified traveler feedback on punctuality, safety, and service quality. In the meantime, operators with online booking enabled have accepted our terms of service, which includes standards around schedule accuracy. If you experience a problem with an operator, you can report it through the platform and our team will follow up.
SafariShare is primarily focused on intercity travel at the moment — routes between major towns and districts across Uganda. For regular intercity commuters, such as those travelling between Kampala and Jinja or Kampala and Entebbe on a weekly basis, SafariShare makes it easy to check consistent schedules, compare operators, and book seats in advance rather than showing up at the park and hoping for availability. For within-city daily commutes, the upcoming carpool feature will be more relevant — allowing you to match with drivers on recurring routes and split costs on a regular schedule. This feature is under development and will be available to Kampala commuters first.
